DRESSING TIPS FOR LOOKING YOUR BEST AT THE PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION

WOMEN

  • Ensure clothing  fits properly and is freshly cleaned and ironed.  Look at yourself in the mirror to make sure it isn’t sagging or wrinkled or that undergarments don’t show through.
  • Unless you are a wearing a bridal dress, avoid wearing white; avoid sleeveless tops.
  • Brush your teeth just before the session otherwise you may have food between your teeth.
  • Touch up your makeup and hair just before the session.
  • It’s  important that your face is not shiny from skin oil.
  • The eyes are the most important part of the portrait.  Use powder, eyeliner, mascara to make your eyes look their very best!
  • Avoid clothes with fine lines that are close together. Pin stripes are okay if the lines are far apart.
  • For outdoor portraits, bring something to hold your hair in place.
  • Keep the jewelry small and simple.
  • Important: See section below about eyeglass distortion.

EYEGLASS DISTORTION - EVERYONE

If you prefer to be photographed with  your eyeglasses. Please be aware of eyeglass distortion that can sometimes occur with some strong eyeglass prescriptions. You can see this effect by standing in front of a mirror and slowly turning your head as shown in the photo.    To avoid this:

  • Take some photos without glasses so you will have a choice of which looks better.
  • Wear frames that have the lenses removed
